St. Paul said, "I magnify my office" (Romans 11:13). How do we magnify ours?with sincerity? With proper preparation? With quality service? As a professional?
A group of missionaries, concerned about both the evangelistic potential in and the misguided approaches to "chapel wedding evangelism" have formed a nationwide network for information and assistance to those who aren't officially qualified as ordained or licensed ministers.
We're painfully aware that much of the "witness" purported to be in the Name of Christ actually brings shame upon His cause by improper attitudes, shoddy methods, and lack of qualifications in both language and cross-cultural awareness. A Japanese pastor said publicly, "90% of foreign wedding preachers are phony (nise-mono ishiki)." Of course we challenged him.
We humbly offer a screening process to provide a certificate of recognition for chapel wedding ministry.
If you have a sincere heart for evangelism and a desire to minister with quality, but feel yourself inadequate, or do not possess official papers of ministry, we want to encourage you. We'll evaluate your present qualifications and, where advisable, provide suggestions and materials to develop your abilities for this ministry.
We offer to you a group of veteran Japan missionaries with chapel wedding experience as resource persons. This group is informally organized with the common concern of providing wedding companies with ministers who will give a quality ceremony which will be a credit to the Gospel and will help move peoples' hearts toward Christ.
